Lord Make Us Wise
Proverbs 2:1-7
“1My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, 2 turning your ear towisdom and applying your heart to understanding 3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.7 He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless” (NIV)
We can have all the education, degrees and knowledge the world can offer us but if we lack Godly wisdom, spiritual discernment and understanding, our lives will not amount to much.
Over and over again in scripture, we are told to seek wisdom. Our text today points to God as the source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Verse 6 tells us that God gives wisdom and knowledge. Understanding also comes from his mouth (his word or the scriptures). Biblical principles provide us with the guidance we need for life’s situations and our daily decision making.
Godly wisdom as mentioned in our text is our ability to have God’s perspective on things and respond through biblical or scriptural principles. In other words, seeing things as God sees them and applying biblical knowledge and understanding.
So how do we get Godly wisdom as women in Christ? Here are a few suggestions:
You have to seek it from God. Remember, it only comes from him. Pray for it as you meditate on God’s word and spiritual principles. Lastly, listen and heed to Godly advice. Watch the company you keep! Associating with Godly and wise friends keeps our feet planted in the path of wisdom.
Prayer: Father, show me the way to wisdom that I may secure myself in your protection. Order my heart, mind and life that I may live and apply your wisdom in my life daily.
Have a blessed day!
